VOG Information by the 4th & 6th Graders
Have you noticed that it is very hazy when you look from the upstairs balcony? If you look closely at the picture above, you will see a very "voggy" view of Koko Head. This is because of VOG. Here are some facts we collected about VOG. VOG is the smog from a volcano. VOG and smog, both are harmful chemicals. Vog is a mixture of harmful gases such as nitrogen and aresols.The reaction to sunlight, moisture, and oxygen is when vog is created. Vog is common in the Hawaiian slands due to the constant spewing of volcanic chemicals from the Big Islands volcano, Kilauea. For more information, check out these web sites:
